Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you pick up the vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle class and held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary. Be sure to comply with any further requirements detailed in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payment
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, please conduct a comprehensive inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges will be applied as necessary. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as when it was collected; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please notify us immediately, as additional charges may be incurred. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability, so reviewing these is advisable. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where further insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or missed reservations could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in dangerous driving practices. Transferring the vehicle to third parties or permitting unapproved drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purposes and within designated passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
